Neighbourhood Policing

Our neighbourhood PC, Stephen Harding, retired shortly before Chrsitmas and our PCSO, Azeem Wazir has nor returned since his holiday in January. However, neither have been replaced and, following enquiries to the Avon and Somerset Police, we were informed that Westbury and Henleaze were being covered by officers from the Horfield and Manor Farm area. When the matter was raised at the Westbury Forum in April, Councillors could only suggest that we contact the Police and Crime Commissioner, Clare Moody.

Update 06/06/25 In reply the PCC states that deployment of staff is a matter for the Chief Constable and that she cannot intervene directly. However, she concludes "The Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee is a UK policing commitment aimed at ensuring visible, accessible, and responsive local policing. It promises regular patrols, named officers for every community, and local engagement. The goal is to build trust, reduce crime, and address concerns specific to neighbourhoods." Update 01/07/25 The police website https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/your-area/henleaze-and-westbury-on-trym/ has been updated to give details of the officers supporting Westbury and Henleaze - as before, these are the team allocated to Horfiels and Manor farm.

The "Local Priorities" section has been updated, but this "update" only comprises changing the date at the top of each item from October 2023 to June 2025!
